Purple and VIN says it's a 1973 model LT3. The old codes don't help. .
LETSJET had an LT3 and I think he used Marbles Motors to get the paint... or maybe Two Brothers.
I think someone mentioned the recent Dodge color "Plum Crazy" might be close? I don't know if it was that or if they wanted to paint theirs that color to match their Charger?

If you start googling searching for Yamaha lt3 grape paint you will eventually stumble onto what your looking for. I just found a guy selling the grape paint down in Texas listed on eBay. Depending on your vision for the bike there is another potential paint you may be interested in. Duplicolor has a metalcast anodized coating. part # MC204, its a nice purple shade with a bit of a sparkle to it when done. You HAVE to use their metalcast primer first though to get the right look.
Several years ago i used the same paint on my LT2 but only in their anodized green and it turned out really nice as you can somewhat see in my avatar pic.

Why would it have LT2 stamped on the frame and engine if it’s LT3?
someone else on YouTube said that people had commented his model that is purple is LT3 but Yamaha apparently released the colour on LT2
I’ve tried uploading photo's to show but they are not working

It's something Yamaha did... you'd have to ask them why. RT2 and RT3 all have RT1 VIN prefix as another example. Check the VIN charts in the Tech Library. You often need to use the whole VIN number to determine the year and yours is a 1973 LT3.
