YHA107 sounds correct.

Can you post photos of the brackets you were sent (use Imgur etc).

Looks like ears on the ones Ive got come out from the inside of the forks, whereas from the bucket looks like they should be central or even outside if that makes sense! I butchered one just to get it fitted so I could get pics off to the DVLA

P.s, any idea how I embed the image into the post rather than give you a link to imgur?

Go to your imgur account icon...  might be a green dot near the upper right of your imgur page.

Click on icon, menu opens, scroll down to "images" and click to open.

Select the image you want and click on it.  In the pop-up, copy the "BB code" link.  Paste that link into your post here.  Done.

P.S.  Imgur now goes right to "create post" when you upload a photo.  You do not need to create a post.  You can go straight to your account icon, opening your images and copying/pasting the BBcode.

Headlight ear looks to be off an AT3 which has a smaller headlight.
CT1-C, CT2 and obviously CT3 ears should fit.
'69 and '70 model CT1 is a different length as the triple tree has a one bolt clamp on those models and won't fit.

Thanks all! Know how to embed pics now.. at least I know what models to look out for now with the brackets, surprising how many slightly different parts there are on these, I naively thought most AT, CT and early DT stuff would be quite interchangeable.

If you select a part on CMSNL and Partzilla then scroll down then, by and large, you will see which other models used that part. I say by and large, because there are a few pages missing from their digitalised records.

For bikes of our era, as you know, most of their records are for US models.

Have to be cautious about the "shared parts lists digitization" trap...  similar models originally had shared printed parts lists...  often with columns to show which part fit which model.  The column information is mostly lost online which is why for example you'll find an ebay seller with a "magic" piston that fits both a 125 and 175!  (Which is of course impossible)

Hi all,

Just updating progress, not a lot has happened as I was waiting for bearings that never turned up (engineers mate ltd would not get a recommendation from me to any UK guys looking for bearings) and during this time my T4 van failed MOT miserably so bike got put back in the corner.

Anyway, with some renewed enthusiasm, this week I have cleaned up the crank cases, replaced all the bearings and seals. Cleaned up the crank, no vertical play in that at all seems in really good nick so plan is to reuse that as is?

couple of questions for the experts on this engine so i can hopefully get it bolted up right first time. On disassembly the crank had a shim on both sides, I think this is incorrect isn't it? Diagrams I can see all only show a shim on one side. Piston currently in it is a 67mm which i believe is +1mm? Piston is pretty heavily scored on the intake side with some less severe corresponding marks on the barrell. Is the best option here likely to be bore it out further, find a second hand std size cylinder or what are the quality of the aftermarket cylinder kits available on ebay etc, I'm guessing they are to be avoided?

Thanks again for everyone's help!

Best to put the shims back the way they were.  Parts diagrams are not assembly diagrams.  Many 175's I've worked on had shims on both sides and the earlier "paper" parts books show them both.

You cannot feel vertical rod play unless it's really, really bad.  Best to check the small end rod "wobble" with a dial indicator as described in the manuals or take it to a shop with the experience and tools to check it.  Over 2mm "wobble" and big end will rattle...  even if you don't feel vertical movement.  (I've made that mistake)  The intake scoring is almost certainly from sucking in dirt and often damages the rod bearing.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a CT3 aftermarket cylinder...  I'd just stay away from unknown cheap Chinese pistons as their quality is suspect...  a few engines I know of have been completely ruined when a "bargain" piston from ebay failed.

Many members have good things to say about PJME in the UK for pistons and machine work.
