Splitting cases CT 175 was created by djetmb

I may have to split the cases on my CT 175 to fix an oil leak between the case halves. Someone used silicone instead of the proper case sealant. Do I need a case splitting tool?

I'm not planning to remove the crank if all looks well there. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks to all.

The crank should stay in the ignition side case...  a simple two bolt puller used on the clutch side of the crank will make it a lot easier.
