oil pump delete CT2 was created by djetmb

Greetings from Canada. The oil pump on my CT2 has suffered water damage and I'm having trouble finding a good replacement.
The other option is removing the pump and going to pre-mix.
Apart from removing the drive and installing the blanking plate, are there any other things I should be aware of?
Using modern 2 stroke oils, any recommendations as to pre-mix ratios?
This bike is used in town and mild dirt excursions.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Forum member DEET (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) might be able to refurbish it.

When looking for a replacement, also look for right side crank case covers, as these often come with the oil pump still attached. Remove the oil pump and sell on the cover.

Also as far as I am aware and please let other forum members with more knowledge jump in if i am wrong...

But AFAIK all the single cylinder oil pumps were the same two types of pump.

Ones with the wheel for bleeding the system and the later type without it.

On each type, delivery per stroke at full delivery is the same, only the gearing to the pumps differed to alter the overall delivery volume.
At min stroke, the difference is in the shim pack.

I do not know if this applies across both pump types though.

Unfortunately pumps have limited interchangeability due to the fact that the worm gear inside the pump was changed among different models.

There are a lot of subtle differences as well... but that one will stop you because the gear in the pump has to match the gear on the driveshaft. I found this out the hard way.

Also plunger diameters do come in at least two diameters which I learned when working on twins

If you must remove the pump either to delete or rebuild, the gear can stay. You don’t have to remove the clutch cover especially if you’re sending the pump out.

But if you don’t go up one or even two sizes on the main jet your bike will be running lean at premix of anywhere between 20/1 - 25/1 - 32/1 - 40/1.

if you have a 160 main jet go to 170 or 180 to compensate for the float bowl containing oil.

So what 2 gears are we speaking?

I have an older one that spins backwards with more teeth.

As for prime wheel, are the without wheel pumps also without small pins?

Smart move DEET is the best also it’s easier than having to premix all the time
