Why not try the brake cleaner? If the spark jumps 10mm, ignition is probably ok. If plugs have been in contact with modern fuel, heat them before trying to start.

This has been discussed here a bunch of times, yes, it's not good to double the resistance as it reduces spark energy.
That said, many people have done it and yours would be the first I heard of that didn't run because of it.
In post #12 of this recent thread I gave the part numbers for NGK resistor and non-resistor caps if you want to try a non-resistor cap yamaha-enduros.com/index.php/forums/part...-plug-boot-for-a-dt3

You can order Autolite non resistor 4054 from Amazon that’s what I use. My bikes run better on Autolite. MarkT turned me on to them Thanks MarkT.

Before taking above advice I’d suggest googling
“health effects of burning brake cleaner “

Chlorinated brake cleaners were phased out around 15 years ago. All those around now are hydrocarbon based, and work well for starting bikes.
I also use brake cleaner, to degrease parts before TIG welding, and up to now not has any issues at all!
Containers used to be marked "non chlorinated" but it was banned so long ago, it's not something which is seen now.

I’ve been very weary about brake cleaner and flames.. a couple guys in a metal manufacturing shop north of me did use that for cleaning before welding… One is pretty much dying a slow death while the other one died.. about 7 years ago… tetra.. or tri.. (big word) from breathing the spent fumes produced from one of the chemicals in it… These were folks I’ve dealt with for many years…

Yamfan, what you wrote above is simply not true and contains dangerous misinformation. Chlorinated brake cleaner is still readily available and in widespread use. It can be deadly to inhale the byproducts of burning brake cleaner. www.popsci.com/diy/article/2009-12/dont-get-careless/
Non-chlorinated is not completely "safe" either as most contain chemicals that are highly neuro-toxic. Firefighting recommendations for even the "safest" low-VOC non-chlorinated brake cleaners state that self contained breathing apparatus needs to be worn.

New non resistor plug Champion
Proved to provide better spark
1st kick she fired right off
runs for a minute or so and dies
another kick fires right back up and dies
very consistent reaction - maybe starving for fuel but it isn’t racing at a higher rpm typical of a normal running out fuel

125 single ring 2 stroke motorcycles loose compression easily. A new piston ring costs $18.00. Check the ring gap.
