got 3 DTs now and I got to say I love autolube pumps, it is such a cool device.  No fuss/no muss, less smoke/fouling, better lube when I need it.  And when I experiment with jetting it doesn't mess with the mix ratio

the manual instructions work terrific if the cables are correct and move freely and the instructions followed in the correct order.

Okay so flushed out the fully synthetic oil
Filled up with the belray mineral oil, adjusted the slack in my cables and also slacked off the pin and dot mark on the pump... And I'm still smoking like a train.. Under full throttle is doesn't bother me much but sitting in traffic/idle I'm putting out abit of smoke and still getting a wet pipe.. I'm a little hesitant to start altering the pump. I really dont want to seize her.

have you checked pump output?
service manual states how many cc's output at full throttle and idle with 200 turns.
I bought a nice graduated cylinder on Amazon for $10 and clamp it to hose with a hemostat
I think this is the only way to know for sure what's up

is Belray Mineral oil the best to use with my DTs?  I have been using Lucas semi-synthetic

If pump checks out then I'd guess you might be a little rich on the a/f mixture?

Not that it's a problem but in my experience you can run a lot of oil...  I use to race with 16:1...  on the oil and have very little smoke if carb jetting is "crisp".

But before you lean out the carb and melt your engine remember that you heard it from a stranger on the Internet located on the other side of the world...  don't take this as "advice"...  just a possible cause.

Mark - you raise a good point.  Of the last three DTs I bought, none of them had the proper main and/or pilot jets and or needed/needle jets in some combination and for some reason were always too lean.  I would def check jet sizes before firing up any vintage bike because a lot can happen in 50 years as we all know
