DT2 DT3 RT2 RT3 main ignition switch wire positions was created by Gr8uncleal
A little while back, there was a post asking for photos or details of the above. I made a mental note to have a look at mine next time I had the switch off - well, that time has arrived.
This is a VERY ROUGH

sketch, but the important info should be there. It is looking from the underside, with the mounting half bracket still attached.
There is an inner and outer circle of wires on the switch. If anyone wants to tidy this up or re-do it using whatever Microsoft etc tools are available, then please feel free to do so.
If anyone is interested, there is a nice version of the same diagram for the CT2 CT3 in the Wiring Diagrams section of the Tech Library.

I know this is an old thread but I discovered the ignition wires have been severed on an RT2 I am restoring, but this diagram doesn't align exactly with what I am seeing. Can anyone provide some help here?
Wires that are severed are red, brown, black (solid) and green with red stripe
I am assuming Red will always go to the double
It seems I also have on additional pad than what has been shown in the diagram above, is this normal? It doesn't seem there is a missing wire or anything

There was more than one switch design used... possibly different suppliers? Sometimes there is an unused terminal. Also switch plate can often be put in 180 degrees out of sync.
Because of the above, the only method I ever use is one Yamaha made very convenient... the "switch map" that shows which wire connects to which in each key position.
For example, in the diagram below, the "green/red" connects to "white" with key in 2nd "on" (aka "night") position.

P.S. Pretty sure if this is the RT2 map but double check to be sure. You'll find the switch maps on the Yamaha wiring diagram.

A couple things... The map calls one of the black wire "E" for earth (aka ground). There should be a Black/White but it might also be solid black too. In any case, the two black wires connect only with key off. B = Black
L = Blue. L/W= Blue/White
L = Blue. L/W= Blue/White

This has been incredibly helpful
I figured out where all the wires go based on what you have given
I also took the tumbler out to reconcile the wiring with the switch map. Which was necessary as it appears someone was already in there, and didn't assemble it properly
The extra pad seems to be an alternate solder point for GR
The rest fell right into place, exactly as mentioned
I can't thank you enough!
