SWOOP56, I suspected as much. Any idea where I can get the tapered bolt tool from? I'll have a search myself...

It's not tapered, just parallel. One in my pic is genuine from when i worked at the Yam dealer. Fits any of the armature models twins & singles by memory--only one i've ever used anyway.

UPDATE: I managed to get the correct puller from my local Yamaha dealer. It all came apart OK and the new seal is fitted.
And it has cured my tick-over problem - woohoo!
Unfortunately I haven't managed to fix my charging problem at the same time. I've started a new topic on that one...
