CT1 kicker not always springing back was created by PDXtyist

Every few kicks the kicker on our CT1 bottoms-out all the way down and doesn’t spring back up. Any ideas about this and how to go about with repairs?
Manually the kicker is brought up and we can still start her up.
Thanks.

Has it been adjusted to where the kicker is sitting around 12 o clock when returned instead of 10-11 o clock?

Hi Darinm. Yep she’s in the 12:00 position. We had a Montesa that had an internal issue that made previous owner mount the kicker in 12:00 position.

My CT2 came the same way. Eventually found it you can basically force the built in stop on the kickstart, past where the "stop" is machined in the case, and then it sticks, maybe even pops the infamous spring out of where it should be recessed in the case. My personal solution was to add a washer at the end of the kickstart assembly, which helps push it in place. Then I adjusted the kickstart lever to 10-11 o clock and have had no issues since. It's an oddly complicated situation to describe, I tried in this post but feel it falls short.

Don't be shy if you have any questions, a couple arrows in the pictures would probably help a lot.
