MX 250 clutch arm bearing was created by Enduro nut
I recently tore the engine down for my 74 MX250 and i noticed that there is no bearing where the clutch arm slides into the case underneath? I know the enduro models have the bearing. My friend who is familiar with the MX models says the MX doesn't have it. The diagram does show that its in there but we all know diagrams can be a little off sometimes. Im wondering if anyone can confirm weather or not it should have the bearing or not? im thinking no, im not seeing any evidence of one that was removed but who knows whats happened with this bike over the years.

It's got to have one. When you remove the arm with spring & washer you should see the seal then the bearing.
Drawing is maybe slightly confusing as makes it look like its at the top end but isn't.
It's a wonder it not leaking oil badly as would try to move sideways & pull the seal open during clutch actuating.
You could make a brass bush i guess or even an alloy bush, better than nothing.

I have replaced that bearing on 3 of the enduro models both 250 and 360. First time restoring an MX. When i removed the clutch arm and seal there was no bearing up inside. I just find it hard to believe they would not have one there so someone must have removed despite how clean it looks inside. I see it in the diagrams but i never fully trust the diagrams.

In my post I see I said “it’s got to have one”. I didn’t mean it had to be there & keep looking. I just meant if it’s not there then yep it needs one.

Here's a link to my MX250 when new. Leading an SC500 & an RN400 works/production Suzuki. Needless to say i doubt very much i was still there by the second corner. Was a big international meeting in NZ that we still have each year in late January & started in "61 i think & i started racing there in the second year "62 by memory, maybe "63.

Here's a link below to lots of short clips of race starts put together by someone from this years event
Think we have around 600 entries over two days including young juniors on a small track & older juniors on the big track on saturday. Then seniors sunday including the river race if its not in flood. I'm hoping this will only post the link so appologies in advance if the whole video takes up room & feel free to remove it if you can, or ask me. Cheers.

Thats a great picture! what id give to have been apart of that era. But at age 32 i still get to sample it when the meets/vintage bike days happen during the summer such as mid Ohio.
I have 2 practice tracks near me and so far I've only hit 1 track using a 2002 Honda XR200R because its my best suspension bike not to mention my newest. First time on a track, I've always rode on my own property and i got to say, i was sooooo sore!! lol.
I had fun but i couldn't clear hardly any jumps because the ground was super soft. I dont think i could bring something like this MX250 there. Its not a vintage friendly track in my opinion. I know the bike has the speed to clear those jumps but i was sinking so far in I couldn't get the speed. Im definitely not the biggest fan of jumping but with practice and a little help from an experienced rider ill get the hang of it.
As for the other track, my friend has been on it and based on what he said and me watching youtube there seems to be way less jumps and a more solid base. My XR is my "test bike" and should be great there but im really hoping to be able to use this 74 MX250 with some upgraded rear suspension.
There is nothing more fun then going bar to bar with someone whos at the same skill level that you are. Winter needs to end already!

The most important thing is to just go and have fun without overdoing it.
I love XR200's & here's a link to one i built up about 30 years ago but only sold recently as was just so much fun to ride.
It's a twin shock Suzuki PE250 frame i cut the frame cradle out underneath to fit the motor & get it low enough for the front sprocket to be in line with the Swingarm pivot.
Motor basicaly holds the frame together & just about sags in the middle without the motor.
Was worried early but it's never looked like breaking.
So go & enjoy yourself. Link below for look or a laugh.

lol got to love a good frankenbike! i have a few rat bikes myself. Its definitely something i do just for fun and i like to show off these vintage bikes that you don't see at your average track. Too late to start a racing career and i don't have the time to be racing pro anyways. My friend did mention a track called log road? its here in Michigan. They have a vintage class and im hoping to jump in on a vintage practice day.
