This reference guide was something I initiated on another website. Unfortunately the photos became blocked by Photo Bucket so only the text remained. I have resurrected it here for the benefit of this Forum, and host for the photos as well. The current page you are on is basically the introduction to the three sub-sections listed below:

Most of the special tools sold by Yamaha or other vendors back in the 1960s & 1970s to work on Enduros have long gone out of production. In addition, many surviving tools have been lost or discarded during the decades since. This has caused riders to fabricate their own tools out of necessity, or scrounge for originals. Many of these special tools; both OEM & improvised, will be listed here for reference. Members are encouraged to share their experiences making "work-arounds" when the right tool was unavailable, or add a new tool to the appropriate list. Details on how you made your own improvised tool(s), along with an attached photo or two, would be particularly helpful. I am going to start things off by posting tools under one of three sub-sections:
Tools-Mechanical
Tools-Electrical
Tools-Improvised
This should make things a bit easier when trying to locate a tool for a certain application.

What follows is a list of primary mechanical tools for working on your classic Yamaha. It stands to reason one should at least begin with a good set of metric:
1. 3/8 inch Socket kit w/ratchets & extensions (standard & deep recommended)
2. Combination wrenches
3. Allen wrenches
4. Impact Driver
5. A good selection of screw drivers, pliers, drifts, & mallet. Air tools would be a
nice plus.

However, more is even better...!
