Keep in mind my 1974 DT250 has 4329 miles on the original bore with max 100 psi compression, (this is being addressed). Having just installed Dave's sleeper pipe I noticed there are few similarities to the stock pipe, its cylindrical shaped, painted black and exhaust noise exits the rear. That's where the similarities end and the differences begin, the power band has become smoother, power increase from mid-range on and now the engine will pull 5th gear from a low rpm to redline without any problem (not before). There is a definite power surge from 4500 to redline, comes on the pipe for the purest, before it was very sluggish. Another note, the stock tail pipe silencer is on, I believe an aftermarket one may help increase power also. With a new piston and bore my chances have greatly increased competing in the Paris-Dakar, Baja 1000 and should be able to win the Enduro fest without a problem.

Its well worth the price, although handing over all my Microsoft stock was a little steep, I drew the line on my Charles Barkley bobble-head.

The years the pipes went over the top of the engine are much less efficient the earlier models i.e. DT-1,2,3
Thanks Dave

I am SOOO looking forward to uncorking my '77 DT400D with a pipe that provides the function of a proper expansion chamber!

Cpdave ...we are really sorry we weren't able to do your 1977 DT400 pipe for you.
After close examination of the 1977 and later pipes we can't effectively "sleeperize" them with a new internal cone.

So we are limited to the 1976 and earlier pipes ! :Coffee

Oh no! I was just getting excited about the prospect of having both of my '78 DT400 pipes done. What is it that prevents you from being able to "sleeperize" them? I'm really curious.
