Carburetor won't fit on Yamaha GT80 (Help) was created by flaps8
Hello, guys! I'm new to this forum, but it seems really friendly. I just got Yamaha GT80 that won't start (they said piston was melted), and I have plans to restore it. So when I got it, some of the parts were apart, including carburetor. I just checked it for spark and it's good, but I got the other problem. The carburetor that came with that bike won't go into reed valve port. I thought maybe I'm doing something wrong, or its not the right carburetor. Anyways I'm in desperate help! Do you know what it could be?

Here's a good start if it'll fit & probably jetted close enough to get ya going. Not very expensive if it doen't work out.
Cable operated choke but i'm sure you could devise a way like pull it with some wire or get an ols bit of throttle cale with the small nipple to hook into the choke slide. It'll start without choke in the mean time just hand over the carb mouth for a kick or two.
Looking again & just to confuse they give two optiond of alloy haha.
Bit hard to see on my computer but looks like the insultor mount part says 15mm ID.

This cable would sort the choke.
I see there's diferent options so probably the second across with the least sticking out 51mm & small nipple.Anyway--your choice & don't let me sway you away from genuine that others will recommend.
After all that i'm not now sure about second one looking at the fitting on the outer cable compared to the first one but 70mm free cable on first one sounds a lot so might go through an adjuster or probably a bent plastic elbow too to need more cable. Sorry, i'm mucking you around.

Thank you, man. I will try to sand the inner side of carburetor port, so it would fit, but if it doesn't work, I'll look for Chinese carbs

What's the outside diameter of the manifold spigot? I have a few Mikuni spigot mount carbs and might have one that fits.
Treatland in California has a lot of those type carbs and is having a 13% off sale this weekend.

It's 20mm. But I'm located in Canada, so I think it wouldn't work

You're right. I will try sanded carb, and if it doesn't work I might buy one from you. How much do you want?

Let me look tomorrow and see if I have a 20mm one. Cheap, like $20 + shipping.
