Fork Difference - JT1 VS GT80 was created by johnste1960

Can anyone tell me the difference between the fork tubes between the JT series and the GT80 Series mini enduro.  THey look very similar.   I found new inner forks for the GT80 and am wondering if they will work on the JT1

Thanks Mark,  I will give him a try.

In any event,   I will soon be pulling apart several GT/MX80s  and a JT1  so I will be finding out myself.  I was looking for an answer prior to buying some new forks.   In any event,  I bought two pair.   When ordering the gentleman asked me if they were for one spring or two spring front ends.   Not really sure what he was talking about,  But I now the 80-82 MX80s, have a diff fork setup.  The parts lists described these as TWO SPRING.   alll the other ones tend to use the same forks and the parts list describe these as one spring.

The Mini enduros have diff part numbers for the inards but look very similar to the ONE SPRING forks used on the GT80s.   In any event,  I ordered one set of each so we will see how this pans out.

I will fully document what I find on this site for future reference.

I was shocked when I learned my JTs had only one fork with spring and the other just goes for the ride. I considered getting a sprung fork tube for the other side but never did.

The 1971, 72 JT mini enduros can use the 73,74,75,76 GT80 FORKS... I am not sure about the 77 and on up forks since I have not had them apart to check.
With all the above mentioned forks, the Right side has a spring inside the fork tube to help with dampening. the Left side fork only has a cavity and oil in it.
I have attached a repair/ service manual pages to show the difference in the tubes and oil that each side takes. They are the same information for both the JT models and the GT80s listed above. I have to mention the lower fork tubes are different on the JTs and The GT80s.. and the front wheel hubs are different too and are very difficult to swap.
