'72 DT2 Question was created by BubbaSendsIt

Is the 1972 Yamaha DT2 250 the greatest factory-built dual purpose bike ever made or is it actually the greatest motorcycle of all time across all categories?

I am trying to settle a bet with my wife.

Thank you so much!!!

Note: bike in 1st pic is not my DT2 but how mine (second pic) could look someday with a little polish. I probably wont raise the front fender like this baby because I don't play like that. But she sure is eye candy even with the high fender and no rear rack. I am keeping my luggage rack even though I just learned on here that it is not an original factory part like I thought. I think the rack gives my DT2 a utilitarian Mad Max vibe that I love.

There are several articles on the '68 DT1. I believe that many if not most of us on this forum agree that the '68 DT1 is the best motorcycle of all time. So the '72 would be an improved version. I think its cool that she is interested in this. However I'm very cautious to bet with my wife.

I'm partial to my CT-2. Same year, "smaller" engine. But then I decided this back in 1971 when I really wanted that CT-2. Finally got one in 2010.

Thanks, Bubba. I don't mind the Mom reference; my knickname in college was Mom; my father's knickname while station with the US Air Force near London in the early 1950's was Mumsie. Comes with the territory.
What say, guys? Is this our old friend 'verbal diarrhea guy' from LA running another "lipstick on a pig" ad? Not Bubbasendsit, but the guy placing the ad...

Words to live by! I was trying to explain why it makes perfect sense to spend whatever it takes fixing and tuning Mad Max my '72 DT2. Unfortunately I fall into the bet trap too easily:

Bubs: makes grand claim
Mrs. Bubs: bs
B: oh yeah, care to make a wager?
MB: yes
B: d'oh

The badge bikes are iconic, that's the bike I was searching for but "settled" on a DT2. Absolutely 0 regrets.

Very nice looking. You did a really great job on it. We are bike twins! Your bike is the brother that went to college and works a real job. My bike is still talking about how he could have won State if only Coach put him in 4th quarter.
