Back for more fun after TOO LONG! was created by Holy Diver

Hey everybody. My name is Michael and I grew up in Western Montana. When I was a freshman in high school, my dad bought me a 1978 Yamaha DT175E. At the time he owned a 1975 DT400B, my mom had a 1976 DT125C and my brother had a DT175C. I practically lived on that bike all the way through to my senior year, usually riding with a buddy of mine who had a Bultaco Pursang. One day we would be doing technical riding, playing "Joe Trialer", the next would be "Joe Motocross". My dad traded in his DT400 for a 1977 XT500 "Thumper". After I joined the Navy and left the state for many years my DT got sold. I had a 1978 DT400 for a bit and a 1979 IT15 too. In the mid 80's I got my dad's 500 but didn't hold onto it for long. Now, 40 years later, I'm back on a dirt bike. It's a total project at this point but you have to start somewhere! It's a 1977 IT400D. The handlebars are bent, the chain is extremely slack, inside the carburetor looks like it has been full of water, it won't run unless the choke is on, the air filter is thrashed, the kick-start lever is about to fall off, the skid plate is missing, several bolts on the side cases are gone, the fork gators are shredded, and like all 40-50 years old bikes with plastic gas tanks this one is crazy ugly. But it runs, all of the electrical works and I'll be working on making it a decent looking, reliable dirt bike. Hopefully this old IT meets the requirements for "Enduro". :)

Welcome from NZ. That's quite a story.
I see Pursang mentioned.
