Clutch Help was created by torqueflight

I have a 1974 DT125, electric start.Im having a problem with the clutch slipping.

I installed new friction plates awhile ago but havent ridden it. Im also having a problem with the clutch not disengaging all the way. If its in gear its slightly pulls and it wont let me go in neutral.I first messed with the worm gear adjustment and nothing got better. I took the clutch side case off tonight to see what is going on.

First off, I cant remember what oil I put but I think it was Mobil 4t, but for some reason it smells like gear oil and its blue, kinda weird, maybe has to do something with the slipping.

Also I think I have the wrong friction plates. These are what I bought. w w w.ebay.com/itm/203165103722 (you need to fix the www) I have 5 friction plates and 5 of the metal plates.

The wear on the plates doesnt seem like its covering the whole plate. You can see the wear track in red and the part that isnt wearing in green. I would imagine almost the whole plate face should be wearing.

If these arent the right friction plates does anyone know where I can find them? I can find actual Yamaha plates but at $25 each thats kinda crazy.

Also what do you recommend for the gearbox oil?

Thanks

Edit, it appears I cant post link or photos, amazing.

If you didn't put motorcycle specific oil in it then your clutch will slip, ask me how I know!

As for posting links, you should absolutely be able to post a link, it's photo's that's the issue.

When I see blue oil in the trans, the first thing I think of is the oil pump shaft seal is leaking and allowing two stroke oil into the trans.

Photo hosting here is down at the moment, but uploading and linking to a third party host like Imgur works fine.  (ebay is a special case...  for the last couple of years ebay blocks "hotlinking" anything from their site to another site.)

Hey Airborn, how many flushes did it take to stop it from slipping?

I dont think its the 2 stroke oil leaking in, since my 2 stroke oil is red (Klotz).

I put it all back together last night and went and bought yamalube 10-40w today. I put it in. Took it for a spin in the rain and I think the filter got wet, power started breaking up on the top end and the throttle slide got sticky.

It seemed like the clutch was a little better but was still kind of slipping. I bought 2 quarts of Yamalube because I thought I might need to flush it. I drained it and the gold yamalube was tinted blue. Put the new stuff and I give it a go again tomorrow.

I think I messed up and put car trans oil in it, because it def smells like gear oil, thats an unmistakeable smell.

I tried just one flush and when that didn't do anything I just gave up and bought new clutch plates.

As for the car trans fluid, I've never seen a blue trans fluid, it's always red. Gear oil does have a blue color to it though.

If it was, it was some weird oil that they use for porsches (swepco 201).

Went to test it out today after the second flush, but the bike was breaking up again. Tried to mess with the points and lost all spark. Cleaned all the contacts on all the wires to get it back. It was intermittent, it would spark on the first few revolutions then stop and now nothing at all.

FML.

ps Ill get new friction plates if it slips on the next go around, but first the spark nightmare.
