Dt125b Runnervation was created by 2fishkev

I guess it’s time to start another thread to cover my next bike I’ve been slowly working on. Since I finished this up, I decided I had enough parts (unused and crusty), basically 1-1/2 Dt 125 s, to assemble an everyday runner and buddy bike.

The decision to do this was mainly due to liking the design of the b model tanks so much and having one available.

It’s a runnervation because I’m focusing on a dependable bike that I don’t worry about cleaning. Only using. Mud, salt, slop, it’ll get pressure washed when I need to fix something. All of the black parts will get fresh paint to protect them. The top end is in good shape right now but will get the %40 expansion when it’s time. Mechanically it will be in top shape with a lot of new parts. Hopefully I don’t have to split the cases. Here we go......

Thanks MarkT! Right now I’ve got it torn down in bits except for bottom end. Hope to leave that alone but not afraid to do it again either. The only piece of unobtainium I see so far is the filter cage. Although I understand uni filters come with one. Don’t happen to have a solid exhaust guard laying around by any chance? My best one on my other one split the other day so I repaired it with wire and solder on the backside. But now its suspect and the other two are in way worse shape.
I tore the wheels down for cleaning and straightening, then wet sanding to 600 and polishing. The hoops show evidence of a sweet jump at least one time.

Hello,

I desperately need the governor 444-81153-10-00 for my 1974 DT-125. I located one in Louisiana and then UPS lost the order. If you can help I'd sure be grateful

I feel your pain but that’s all I can do for ya. I only had one extra motor and it’s becoming a rider. Maybe post a wtb in the wanted and for sale section. There are a few guys who specialize in 125s that might have it. Sorry.

173-81153-10-00 Is the number for all the bikes 71 and older and the one you posted is 72-76. Someone may know if they’re the same. It would allow you to broaden your search.
