went for a ride today CDI was created by msavitt
wanted to take my '78 DT400E up Santiago but it wouldn't start
so i took my '74 DT360A!
Maple Creek Truck trail was closed probably due to rain so I rode trabuco creek up to holy Jim trail head, it was muddy and fun!
When I got home I noticed that the right handlebar kill switch had the red square exposed. So I moved the switch to the other position and bike started right up. This bike was a bag of rocks when I got it, it actually had a 175 front end on it....its all stock now, but I think this right grip switch was probably not from the original bike.
Does the right hand kill switch on a DT400E with CDI ground the primary wire to "kill" the engine like it does on a Yamie with points?
thanks
EDIT: Partzilla actually has the entire assembly which is pretty cool, it has two wires. www.partzilla.com/product/yamaha/1R6-839...40be631f8cfe7f1543a9
The one on my bike has only one black with white strip primary wire

Grounds the black/wire wire going into the CDI box, but yes, same principle.
