I'm restoring an early 1968 DT1 03306 and I'm trying to determine which later fork cover guides, if any, interchange with the early parts.I contacted Legends Yamaha Enduros first, and they suggested I ask here.I'm looking for firsthand knowledge from anyone who has actually compared these parts.Upper guide:
  • Original 1968: 214-23115-00
  • Later: 168-23115-00 and 278-23115-50
  • Do these interchange?
Lower guide:
  • Original 1968: 447-23116-52
  • Later: 248-23116 or 278-23116
  • Do these interchange?
I have one original lower guide but no upper guides. I've already compared my 1968 and 1971 DT1E fork parts and taken measurements, but before I start buying or machining later parts I'd really like to hear from someone who's physically compared these guides. Thanks!

I'll kick it off but I'm likely on the wrong planet lol but early had steel lower sliders & screw on seal holders with the upper wiping cover sliding-cliping over. The later model from about "70 had alloy lower forks with wiping cover still sliding-cliping over. I'd say the alloy model slide on cover is different because it had a chrome cover fitting over that & was ribbed to stop the chrome cover getting off. OK if I'm miles from what your talking about then at least I've kicked it off.

I tried to post Service #255 which is a Front Fork comparison for DT1/RT1 both here and in the Service download section but did not have luck. I did send the Service #255 and asked them to post it. Who knows if they will? It does provide a detailed size comparisons of the fork components by part number.
Be Happy!

I see you have a 248 part number in there which i think of as for a 125/175 but could be wrong depending on the part.
