69 stator help what wires to lights and battery with 3 coils on stator was created by gusto
i got a bike with just engine and frame and really old wiring harness so im a little confused on diagrams as i dont have a main switch and they dont show a white wire.
help me understand the 2 lighting coils? there are 4 wires coming from stator. all i think i know is the black goes to ignition coil.
i think the yellow goes to headlight and the white and green are battery if im correct? or whats what? i got a rectifer and a 6v battery. i got some regulator but it only has one yellow wire coming from it so im confused. i got it off ebay as i think it said 6v regulator. what fuse to use? is it possible to do some wiring diagram without main switch? whats confusing is some later 70 model seem to only have 1 lighting coil if im right. i cant tell much from old harness except voltage regulator is like a magnet coil thing. plus i got it in parts and didnt take it apart myself so any help is much appreciated. thanks

If you make a couple more posts you should be able to upload photos (from a third party host), which will be useful.
Fuse is, I think, 10A.
The four wires from the stator should plug into corresponding coloured wires, all close together, on the main harness.
The rectifier should also plug into the main harness.
The single wire 6v voltage regulator is spliced into the blue meter light wires in the headlight bucket (I'll try and post the relevant instruction, or a link to it). The regulator must be grounded to a good earth.
It's not important, but if you look very closely at the colour of the wire from the regulator, it might be yellow with a white stripe!

When you say the harness you have has a "magnet coil thing" for a voltage regulator, it could be a "choke coil" which was used by Yamaha on a couple models before voltage regulators were used.

If what you're describing is more of a box with relay-type magnet-coil things, you might have the wrong harness.

The key switch on that model does several things so you're going to want to have one if getting it back on the road.
If you want to just run the bike with no lights, etc. simply connect the black stator wire (black/white) to the ignition coil. Tape up all the other wires, they do nothing for spark. No battery needed.
P.S. pretty much every Yamaha Enduro from that era has a white wire from key switch to the rectifier. So you might be concerned about a white from the stator? My guess is you have 5 total wires out of the stator? Black (technically black/white), yellow, green, green/red, and white.
The white out of the stator is mentioned in the manuals and is shown on the correct diagram for your bike as an optional battery charging wire, normally not used.

Also, do not be concerned with the "two coil or three coil" on the stator. They are functionally the same.
Kind of like air compressors. Sometimes the compressor is a piston-type like an engine without a spark plug. Another very popular design is the "buzzy" oilless design.
Your air hose and tools don't care. Both designs compress air.

thanks for all help. i just have 4 wires and three coils on 69. one wiring diagram was black n white. so thanks for babying me on this. im trying to do my own wiring since my harness is real old. i have the old choke style regulator and some new in box regulator. right now i need to get spark back as i once had it threw the black wire. seems like everything i get brakes a little more instead of getting fixed. i might need new points as i cant see them seperate threw the little flywheel holes. if thats when there supose to

it cut off half my
i was saying im working on kick start gear n lever. i used wrong year from later 70 model and it broke a little piece in case but i think its still ok. plus my case cover might of been touching flywheel since i have old case it only has 2 screws and one needs a helicol. dont know if that would effect spark.
