Seat stop was created by Craz1
Does anyone know how the 1968 DT1 250 seat opens and stops before hitting the pipe. Is there a stop of some kind. I have only seen one photo of a bike with the seat open and it had a strap to hold the seat open. So I made up a strap to serve the purpose. Can anyone give me some insight.

I believe that the strap is the correct fitment - see CMSNL or Partzilla.

Also 1968-specific service manual for DT1 should be in the Tech Library and shows strap similar to what you've constructed.

Yes I saw the Partzilla strap but thought it was a strap for the top of the seat but it probably is for holding the seat. I do have the 1968 Yamaha service manual but dont see anything about the strap. I think I will call it good with the strap I made.
Thanks for the replies!

You can see the strap in the pictures in the manual... for example page 59 where they are going over the air filter maintenance.
(It's not like they have a section devoted to it.

The seat strap pictured in the yamaha parts list is for holding the seat open. I made a few repo's real close to the original strap because they are hard to find and expensive if you do. I made 3, used 1 and sold the other 2 on e-bay. They came on 68-70 DT1's and some other model bikes.
Not all is lost because KDI is in the works of making exact reproduction straps and should be available soon.
Here are some pic's of the straps i made. They worked well.
