Badge Bike Badge Color was created by Pedalcrazy

Were any of the badges gold and black on the early DT and RT bikes? The few I have seen are silver and black. I bought a set of (4) on Ebay (repops) and I assumed they'd be silver and black. Couldn't tell in the pics. They are gold and black. Two new ones and two used ones. All the same color.

I can't answer your question, and in fact, I have another I'll add. Were the Enduros the only Yammies to use the badges, or did other bikes as well? Like the XS series? Maybe that's where the Gold came from?

Yeah I see From the 70 XS parts list that the XS models use badges that mount the same and look the same but have a different part number than the DT and RT. I looked back at the sellers longer description and lists the "XS, DT, RT". But in the title just says "69DT1". Guess I have some XS badges to sell.

The early XS650s did use similar, if not the same, badge. I am on the XS650.com site also, I will ask there for you. I always thought they were silver, but maybe one year they were gold.

The '68 DT1 I am redoing had black and silver badges, not the pretty red ones. If there were no badges on the tank when I acquired it I would have gone with red (even got a repop set), but have about decided to get a silver set, as that was what the bike had (and I have a magazine with a pic of an early DT1 on the cover, with silver badges, so I guess there were some). The red is definitely prettier.

I think red is the color of the 69 AT-1.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing gold badges on the XS1 or XS2... which everyone calls XS650.

It might have been a "special edition" that had the gold badges? I'm sure I've seen them both ways with silver being more common than gold.

The response so far from the XS guys has been "silver". One member there suggested maybe an R5/DS7. I grabbed his pic (file photo I think) :

If someone else remembers different I will report back. Interestingly, I could not find repro R5/DS7 badges. If those are actually what you have, they may be worth more than realized.:Coffee
