Anyone recognize this DT1? was created by Relicracing

Rescued this ‘68 from the outdoors. It’s had a hard life, looks like the frame was broken at the steering stem and repaired. It’s been stripped for MX, has shock mounts relocated on the swing arm and bunch of aftermarket components on it. There is a California off road sticker on the frame. I bought this bike in NJ from a man who bought it at an auction in PA. Bike just looks like it’s got a story to tell. If you were a previous owner, I’d love to hear from you. Thanks.

Cali stickers dated '78. Mods were common back in the day.

What are you going to do with it?

Nice find Thom! :likey

Looks like maybe a Bassani pipe?

Should be a lot of fun!

Nothing for now, OTD. We’re still getting to know each other.
I bought it, removed the frozen chain, freed the rear brake so it would roll, plugged the openings and gave it a bath. After it’s photo shoot, I rolled it into my shed until I decide.
I’m building a CT1 and a hardtail XS650, at the moment. It was an unclear ad on FB, for over a week. I responded with “if it’s still available next Friday, I’ll come for it”, and it became my first purchase of 2021!
Turns over, with compression. Never checked for spark. Too far gone for an original resto, obviously. Maybe race it in AHRMA, if I keep it.

Another one saved, that's good. Forward mounted shocks on the arm. Pity they cut off the original lugs.

Original mounts are still there.
Can this off-road sticker be researched for a previous owner?

I realize it’s a long shot but I ask because I also have an owner modified, 1955 DMW that was a local rider’s enduro mount. Really couldn’t find much on the Dawson Motors Works motorcycle but the rider/owner,
John Gill Fenimore, turned out to be a skilled rider that is mentioned in many of the magazines & race results in my “vault”. Lots of info in the old literature that either never made it to the internet, or I just can’t find by typing it into the search window. Thanks either way.

Back in those days California completely purged the registration and title records after about 7 years of inactivity.
