Oil tank sight glass removal was created by MK19
Any advice on making the removal of the Oil tank sight glass and the badges from the side of the oil tank please? I've got to send this piece for paint so have to get the bits off it.

I drilled a small hole thru the lens and metal backing, then threaded a deck screw into the hole so that I could pull it out using vice grips. Don't try and lever it out like you would with a claw hammer. It will dent the face of your tank.

I used a heat gun and putty knife… Then an after thought.. “wonder if xylene would dissolve the glue?”

No model mentioned... some had the retaining pins on the back of the badge where you have to carefully pry off the badge.

Figured I'd mention, the rt1 tank has sight glass towards rear of tank, in line with filler cap. Rt3 tank is located towards the front. I forget what I used, but I was able to push the sight out through the filler hole, on my rt1 tank. Everything salvaged.

Sneezles... I seem to remember some Yamaha models... possibly not even Enduros... having pins retaining the oil tank badges. My comment was made before the model was revealed.
Looking at parts diagrams for some models, they show pins and "nuts" that the emblem presses into... but that could also be one of those "features" Yamaha changed early in production... glued on emblems would make it a lot easier and cheaper to produce the tanks!
