How to safely remove spring clamp? was created by AirborneSilva
I need to change the small hose from my oil pump to cylinder, how do you safely remove the spring clamp. Also, how does it go back on? Thanks!

In the past I have managed to slide them down the hose.
Some folks have recommended warming the hose first, just to make it easier.
Goes back on the same way.
Note that the clamps that Yamaha supply now have a silver finish, not black.

Thanks Alan, I did tug on it a bit but felt uneasy to give it a good pull. I'll heat it up and try again when my new line comes in.

I thought about using some needle nose pliers to pull it off, don't want to damage the pump.

Get your fingernail or a small thin screwdriver under it and try to unwind it as you push it off.
The hours spent riding my Enduros is not deducted from my life span.

Yes don't pull anything. If you grab it and pull you'll be making it grip tighter. I use a small screw driver behind it and push it off.

And this is why I ask these questions, I would have been pulling on it and saying lot's of swear words when I either broke it or just couldn't get it off.

You’ll still need the swear words.
