DT2 Clutch Actuator mod was created by Bartman512

Ok Ive done several searches but cant actually find the actual mod or which one to order. Mine is broken and Im hoping there's a better part that will work for a 72 DT2.

I think I read that kdi is working on a reproduction clutch actuator for the DT's and RT's. And I right? RickC (Rick Corona) said that in a post maybe two weeks ago. Don't know what Dave's target date for release is, though.

Bartman512,

From an earlier post:

See one of the many "clutch actuator" threads on this site. These will explain both the problem, and permanent cures, if you want them gone forever. You CAN get repops of the whole actuator if you'd prefer, but these use the same plastic actuator, and they will crack, it's just a question of "when." Search Clutch actuator in the subject search with an author of Hammer and you'll find them. The mod was one of DEET's design, and HE deserves ALL the credit. I haven't even so much as done anything to mine since I did the mod back in 2013 or so.

Hope this helps!

So I received my XS650 clutch actuator, machined the hole to 1'' to fit the new part in the cover and it fits nicely only thing is the arm that the cable hooks on to is bent the opposite direction, which pulls the cable at a extreme angled position to push the clutch rod. Im wondering if you guys bent the arm the opposite direction? it seems like a pretty heavy gage steel bracket

Post a picture. I discovered in my past research and buying parts that Yamaha had a different actuator with a different offset for one of the early 650 designs.

The only complaint I have with this mod is I cant run anything bigger than a 12 tooth counter sprocket. I installed a 14 and the chain rubs the new actuator. It's obviously bigger than stock.

My version doesn't have any limitations and it allows you to still use the outer diamond shaped adjuster cover.
