Glad to be here. was created by kmac

Will Brown here.  My first bike was a 1965 Yamaha 55cc street bike.  I bought it for $19 not running and it cost $27 to get it running.  I rode it all over the country side.  It doubled as dirt bike when the need arose.  Then I move up to a Yamaha 90 enduro which was way better.  I was 14 at the time.  I turned 16 bought a car and kinda left the bikes behind.  25 years ago my brother in law gave me a 1965 Yamaha YG1 80 cc.  It was in bad shape, really bad shape.  So it sat in my barn collecting dust because I said I would get it running when I retired.  I retired June of 24.  I started working on it in FEB of 24.  Everything on it was going to need to be replaced and was.  I started it for the first time since 1971 in feb of 25 and rode it later that month.  I call it my money pit and believe me it is a money pit.  All I have left to replace is gas tank that is not dented up, strip it and paint it.  Three weeks ago I bought a 1970 RT1 Yamaha 360 Enduro that had been in storage for 10 years.  I went through the carb and had it running in a day.  It runs good, rides good but is pure heck to start, (cold) once its warmed up it starts first kick.  That my riding experience, I really enjoyed rebuilding the YG1 more than riding the 360 enduro.  Will Brown here.  My first bike was a 1965 Yamaha 55cc street bike.  I bought it for $19 not running and it cost $27 to get it Welcome from. NZ. You have all the models I remember from work back in the day. I see yours post doubled up. There's some trick to that which happens I think when you try to post a photo in with the text. No worries & direct photos don't load anymore & need to come via an external  source. "Imgur" seems popular here but i use Google photos. Talking RT1 it will likely be the choke jet blocked in the bowl if it starts easy when hot. Also throttle needs to be fully closed for the choke to work as intended. The jet is fixed & down a cavity in the bowl needs something pretty small to poke it from straight down plus sideways where fuel enters under the jet. Then spray something both ways to be sure. If it's not that then--back to the drawing board.

Welcome from Mn.
I call my RT2 the old grey mule because it’ll kick like a mule when it’s cold and doesn’t wanna leave the barn.

I find the big bore bikes are a little unnerving on cold starts. Even though mine rarely kick back. My favorite bikes are the 175s. They are basically a full size bike with enough performance to have some fun. I had to Google a YG1 because I'm not familiar with pre-enduro models. Looks like a fun ride.

Our YG1T Landscouts lined up outside work. We were selling so many in the mid "60's that we had a few 5am starts doing an assembly line thing before 8am back to to regular fixing bikes. Reposted the link further down as didn't work.

I'll try again, was on my phone, pain of a thing.
Second pic is of a sort of 'tounge in cheek' experiment we did for a local hill country farmer that was trying to go in impossible places.
Wish i kept those "Steel Tyres". Puts a whole new meaning on steel belted tyres.
You might notice this model is before autolube arrived.

Thanks everyone for all the replies and welcomes. RT those are good pics, never saw tires like that before. My wife was raised on motorcycles, I've been around them and rode quite a bit. We've been married 40+ years and have never been on a motorcycle together and I've never seen her ride a motorcycle. Strange I know. I will try to post pictures of my money pit and the 360.
