Hi, you guys have been amazing to help me in the past with my RT1 needs- now lets test your XT brains ! :-)

I have a 78 XT500 which I'm prepping for the season ahead. I've discovered an ignition issue and following my experience of the RT I want to renew the system from stator to plug. Unfortunately for me it seems - the previous racer has upgraded from points to yamaha cdi system.

so.

it seems that the kits available from the usual vendors only work with the standard (points) flywheel.

Any one have any work arounds? Or am I going to have to source a flywheel now also?

Hoos Racing has both the Vape and Electrix world ign. The Vape has its own flywheel and can run lights the Electrix world I got uses the stock rotor and no lighting coil. I put on my dirt only 1978 XT500.

Yes on replaced the points and advance unit. I've got the Electrix world ign. on my XS650 gravel bike and love it.
