Time will tell but its complete and that's a big plus. The piston is stuck tight but the transmission is free so I have to remove the scow of a motor.  I've got wrenches on both sides of the motor and it wont budge. Not sure what I am going to find but what I don't need in parts I'm probably going to spend in Labour.  FUN FUN FUN

Odd tank color. Is it a 1977? Looks like an exciting project and well worth the effort. I had a '78 TT500 and loved the smooth power delivery. Good luck.

Ok here are some more pics of engine coming apart.  Piston was stuck like I have never seen before.  Tried a rubber dead blow hammer and had to switch to a bress hammer which destroyed the piston but It did get it moving.  after that installed a puller and pushed it out.  took 2 hours.  Anyhow all it needs is a piston and rings and a crosshatch honing and it will be good  hjead and valves are all good as is the camshaft.  Also went riding on sunday and took a trip over the bars into a cactus bed.  no smarter at 69

Yamy pistons can take a fair beating. Had mine running good as new, full compression & power. Pity about the rest of it haha [of mine i mean]. Check my link to save clogging your post with my rubbish. Used a BIG sledge hammer as nothing else would move it haha.
Just saying might be able to save your piston.

Ok here is the latest after I got a new piston and a different head and a new kick start stopper. I will have about 1500 bucks into this including purchase and parts that were required.  I actually had to replace the head.  Mine wasn't worn, it was coroded and I had access to a fairly cheap replacement so I did it.  Actually found the kick start stopper in the oil pan sump. Amazing it could get down there without damaging a bunch of other parts.. Just gettin ready to fire it up and see how it runs.
