Need a left fork ear or head light mount for a 68 DT1. Speed and Sport Yamaha show they have one but not sure it is the correct one with the single hole for the mounting bolt.

I emailed Yamcindy but she never responded. I bought a bunch of parts from them in the past and everything is spot on. The part number worries me because it ends in 01, that usually means a change was made, maybe the extra holes.

I've always had very good service from, and luck with, Speed and Sport. Cindy will go the extra mile if she can to get the right part for you.
Regarding those headlight ears, I am looking at the set I have been refinishing, and I really cannot see any real difference between the left and the right. I saw like you did the difference in the part numbers, but they just look the same to me. Just sayin'

Here’s some pics of my ‘68 ears (sandblasted). It looks like they are identical as far as I can tell. Plus there are no markings that would indicate L or R.

You might put an angle finder on the top (and bottom) edge on the part the headlight connects to. On the 69 CT there seems to be a slight up angle on one of the edges. I think that goes to the top. I noticed the piece wanted to fall over on one of the ears after I painted it so I turned it over and it stood upright. Not sure about the DT.

The ones Speed and Sport have are not correct for the early 68. They have 2 holes in the ears not the 1 hole like mine has.

Not surprising you can't get rare parts over the counter any more...where's the fun in that! LOL Search Ebay if in the US. Hasn't let me down yet. Parts delivered to your door.
Plus folks here and about ready to share their knowledge and parts...priceless!

My 1968 fork ears look interchangeable, another slight difference in the early DT-1. Has anyone published a thread on all the 1968 DT-1 restoration headaches? That would help us newbie 1968 guys Immensely! My bike needs everything so nothing will go untouched.
