My 1979 DT175 has the exhaust muffler can, but its missing the spark arrestor that goes into it.  Yamaha part number is 1M1-14752-01-00, used on later DT models (1978-80 Dt125, 1978-81 DT175, 1990-98 RT180, 1976-78 DT250, 1977-80 DT400) and TY250.  I plan to ride forest areas and could really use one...  Any leads on this or a good substitute are appreciated

Hi,
I have one from a 1977 DT250 if you are still interested.   Use Partzilla .com to confirm this is what you need.   What I have is item 22 from the exhaust assembly for a 1977 DT250.

PIPE, OUTLET
1M1-14752-01-00

The item is in good shape.   $50 + Shipping fees.   Pay with Paypal Friends and family (you pay any fees,  I get $50)

I can send pictures on request.    Note,  I will be out of town the next few days at our hunting cabin so not may be able to respond until Late Sunday.

High Jeff,  sorry I did  not get back to you sooner, but Deer Hunting season popped up, and then I contracted COVID,  All Good now.   First,  I made a mistake in my prevous response,

1) What I have is the exhaust Silencer/Spark Arrestor for a 1977 DT250D.   This fits 77.78 DT250/400 Only.   It is item 21, 1M1-14753-00-00.  not the part I listed above

2) After reading your post again,  I believe you are looking for the muffler (pipe outlet)  I do not have that,  Sorry.

3)  If you are looking to ride in forests, the law requires a Spark Arrestor which you have.   The part you are looking for is simply a muffler which reduces the noise level of the bike.    If you look on your silencer, you should notice a stamping that states it is an approved Spark Arrestor for forestry use..  Mine does.  If so, you are good to go for riding on state forest land.

The removable outlet pipe is actually the “clean out” for the spark arrestor.  It creates a chamber to trap the hot particles that are thrown to the outside of the chamber by the turbine core.

Without the insert, the spark arrestor is useless as a spark arrestor. Only legal as an arrestor with stock insert in place.
