My annoying weed eater was playing up.
Shed is a mess so working on it on the lawn but lost the short driver tip.
Wiped the grass all around where i was but no luck.
So flywheel FOT-1971 saved the day haha.

Must be similar storries out there, like when i lost my speedo cable retainer, that wire clip with turned up ears.
Some time later i found it "when i wasn't looking any more" with the ears embeded in the sole of my boot haha.

Anyway, new topic was gonna be similar,
Yesterday i dropped the bowl drain screw--special tapered screw & thread--from the carb on a Suzy 400 Quad, difficult to get at & work on "local quad i can't escape from". Had a big steel tray under it but never went "clang" in the tray.
Moved the quad then on hands & knees i hand wiping the area & more.
Getting dark so used trouble light & closeup glasses.
Was going to attempt to make one but thread is maybe fine 6mm not a normal 6mm or is a special thread.
Anyway--in desperation i grabbed my FOTO1971 flywheel & almost literally sat it down on top of the screw. About an inch to one side & wiped to the left & CLANG--there it was. Mind you if it'd wiped to the right i might still be looking for it. Man i love that flywheel haha.

RT, I’ve got a speaker magnet that helps relocate missing parts…. From a guitar amp so it’s.. 3” across and kinda heavy. It will stick, or stuff will stick to it very nicely….
I still believe there is some critter that finds the part I dropped and stashed them away. Along with some tools…

#1: WHERE IS THAT SCREW?
Recently pulled tail light lens off to check gasket seat. There are only 3 screws that fasten the lens and I put them on a cleanly laid out towel to keep from losing them. On this towel, was an ohm meter and a phillips screwdriver also.

Install time. Just 10 mins later. Put 2 screws in and the 3rd was gone! I went to put the lens back on and poof, the 3rd screw was gone I tell ya. Stored ohm meter and phillips. Call wife to garage to help me look for it...nothing. Looked over several days. I ordered a new screw! Those little jokers are not cheap. Then a few days later went out to install.

I pulled the ohm meter from its home for some work from a tool box and presto! There it was stuck to the magnet on back of my ohm meter. I forgot it had a magnet on the hang strap.

#2: THE CASE OF THE 302 AND STOW AWAY MIRROR.
Put a new set of heads on my FORD 302. In the process borrowed the wife's round small mirror to look under something near the engine. Put engine together. Later same day wife is asking for mirror back BUT I could not find it! It was gone and I'm in trouble!

A few years later, friend of mine I hired pulled engine, and on disassemble found a mirror politely just sitting there in the lifter galley. Just as when I sat it there, no damage, not really even that dirty. Brought it inside and gave it back to wife. She was pretty upset it went missing initially, then we had a good laugh when I found it.
74 DT 360 ... resto in progress.

Mine is a magnetic base from an old CB antenna. Can't tell you how many times I've used it various ways.

I've installed built-in kitchen appliances for some 40 years. When I began we used cheap spring clamps instead of spin-down clamps for the drain hoses, so I had spring clamp pliers. Of course, I lost them somewhere, and never bought another pair, then eventually switched to spin-down clamps.

Then one day I was installing a dishwasher somewhere in Los Angeles county, and when I removed the bottom panel, there were my old spring clamp pliers, right where I'd left them some 20 years before
