Gas to oil premix ratio was created by Aintnothintoitbuttodoit27

I have a 1978 Yamaha dt250 that I use for ice racing someone on here once gave me a ratio and I’ve since lost the number and haven’t ridden in almost 2 years taking the bike out this weekend but I need to mix some fuel can anyone help?

can't go wrong with 20/1
40/1 is power mix in cold weather

Jetting at high altitude plays a more important role than mixing ratios.

I meant to add that I thought 20:1 sounded right and you and everyone else has pretty much said the same thing can’t go wrong with it! Thank you for the response.

Mine are run with lots of oil, we have metal rubbing against metal in there under high temperatures /RPM speeds / friction…my grandfather used to say grease is cheeper than steel …..   What about power ….there was an article from a bike magazine & I think it is in the library here of a dynometer test using different oil ratios. The most horsepower was at a ratio of 16/1.
Yes that was from years ago so gas was different and oil too but until someone does actual tests I’ll run a mix non synthetic 20/1
