That makes sense. It may sit in my garage for two months between cranking and riding.

I've used Autosol metal polish with great success on mine - use on both the carb body and the slide (throttle valve) itself.

These 314 prefix carburetors are notorious for slide sticking. I cleaned one yesterday to put on eBay. Loosening the flange nuts and the top cap, helps. The bore fits tight. The slide will stick full throttle, a kill switch is a great idea and WD-40 is your friend. Many years ago I push started and bike ran away. Never push start that bike. Ask me how I know. I spent two hours yesterday cleaning two carburetor’s… They are very rare items when they operate correctly.

Thanks for that information. Are you aware of any good aftermarket replacements for this thing besides those cheap knock offs?

The short answer is no. OEM if you want your bike to run correctly.
