airbox alternatives? was created by Jbeebe
DT250 being build for vintage mx, mostly single track through woods and fields. No desert or sand.
The bike has no airbox and I planned on putting two oval number plates between frame tubes on the sides.
Will I be okay with just using a foam UNI filter?
I can get an airbox on ebay for ~35, but then i'll have to buy the filter as well. I just hate spending the money if I don't need to.
what are you using instead of the stock airbox?

I think your engine would like an airbox riding in the dirt, dust, water etc. You can modify the airbox for more flow if needed. Here’s what we did to our airbox in the 70’s I’m sure others did it too.

Go back to it and use the "edit" button, you'll be able to see what the post looks like and the explanation may make more sense...
Basically, when inserting attachments you need to know that it will insert where your cursor is placed. The insert also gets goofy sometimes if it's immediately before or after text... as in on the same line or "touching". All you need to do is separate the "attachment" line from the text you're typing with a couple of "enters" or what used to be carriage returns to insert a blank line between what you typed and the attachment you're inserting.
And never use "insert all" as it will duplicate your text... glitch in the software. Just insert each one by one using the insert button under the attachment(s) you uploaded..

ahh interesting. thanks for the tip. I just pulled the trigger on a used airbox off ebay; 45 shipped. It looks complete but as with everything else off ebay, we'll see once it comes in! hopefully all it needs is a new filter element and to be installed.
