carb kits for 79 dt100F was created by StreetlampKid

Hello all!

I have a 1979 Yamaha DT100F Enduro that I inherited it from my uncle. I'm trying to restore it but I'm still pretty new to motorcycles in general and VERY new to enduros. I'm looking for a reputable place to purchase a rebuild kit for the carb, I believe it's a VM22SS. I put an after-market carb on it to get it running and work out other issues, but I'd like to get the original carb back on it. All sorts of things pop up when you search for that model carb/bike, but I'm having a hard time figuring out which kits would work. If anyone can give me guidance or advice on good places to get a rebuild kit, I'd greatly appreciate it! I'm also willing to listen to any general pointers and tips you all have for newbies. Thanks!

(I know that there are missing plastics in the picture I posted. Those are off to the side.)

Welcome!

I wouldn't recommend a "kit"... aftermarket kits are mostly junk..  if you're careful you might not need anything...  float bowl gaskets are pretty durable unless you tear it.

Just buy the parts you need from Yamaha or a Mikuni parts place.

+1 to Mark's comments.

Just double check your model against the VIN tables in the Tech Library here (see top toolbar) and then search on CMSNL or Partzilla for the part numbers (or there might be a scanned copy of an original parts manual in the Tech Library). You can then order what you need from your local bike dealer.

Looks like a nice project.
Make sure you change your brake shoes even if they look fine they can delaminate when they get old.
I write the date on the ones I fit.

Another recommendation to forego "kits".  Jets-R-Us and Niche Cycle sell genuine Mikuni carb parts.  Get genuine Mikuni parts, which AFAIK aren't available in kit form for these bikes.

Jets don't really wear out.  They can become clogged but usually a GOOD cleaning will get'er done.

Welcome, and good luck.  Keep us posted
