Hello and Stamping Question was created by maxsteckler@gmail.com
Hi guys,
I'm new to the site after picking up a CT175 survivor that was begging to loved. I went through the top end, carb and autolube system and she runs like a champ. Pulling it apart now to polish and clean. Here is my question... My acquired CA title says its a 1973 CT175. It certainly looks like that bike. However, the title, frame and engine are all stamped as CT1-xxxxxxx. All the numbers match. Did they not change the stamping as they moved from CT1 through CT3?

Not sure if you're seeing what i'm seeing but page is full of gobbledygook. maybe my computer. No worries & now i've forgotten the question. Welcome firstly. Scroll scroll--up. Yep Yamaha use CT1 AT1 DT1 RT1 you name it, right through to the end of CT3. All good. We love pics sometime if you can load one. Cheers from NZ downunder. ps, i've got an AT1 [but it is an AT1 lol 1970] albeit now with a TY175 top end. Looks Rat--we should start a Rat Bike Post.

Thanks. I'm still learning the forum. Hopefully this picture comes through. Anyone know the bar bearing size for the top and bottom steering races?
Thanks

In answer to your original question yes, Yamaha did stick with CT1 prefixes to the VINnumber through the CT2 and CT3 models.
Check out the Tech Library on the top toolbar for VIN tables, manuals etc.

22x3/16 top & 19x1/4 bottom. Races get little dents in them too so pay to replace them also otherwise [if dented] you'll have erratic lumpy steering [in a bad case] even with new balls. Welcome from NZ.
