Hi all. Ive been a member for a while but this is the first time Ive posted. Im in south central Idaho and I picked up a 71 DT1E in early 2015. Found it on Craigslist in Boise for $650. The badge bikes are near and dear to me because when I was a kid living outside of Twin Falls we went to a MC shop called Erickson Motors in Twin. My dad ordered a 1971 AT1 from there. So naturally me being 9 years old or so, I fell in love with the JT1. Well, the AT1 never came in. We would check every Saturday for a month or so and was finally told that the truck the bikes were on went under a underpass and wiped the top layer off which included our AT1. Dad got ticked. I dont think he believed the story and we went down the road and bought a Kawasaki 125. I ended up with a Honda SL70 instead of the JT1. We then started riding montesas and hodakas mostly. Ended up back on hondas. I now have honda 650l as my main rider. I also have a hodaka super combat 125. hodaka wombat 125, hodaka B ace 100 and a hodaka 250 thunderdog and a 81 honda 125.

Nice bikes. I also have a DT1E, and being from Oregon always liked Hodakas.

Thanks all! I guess I do understand how to reply as I see my post. Ive learned a lot from you guys. Most recently RT325. The DT would start up and then rev out of control. I became convinced it was a air leak so I replaced some seals, tightened head bolts etc.. Drove me nuts most of last summer. Been thinking about it all winter and I read where RT325 said to check and make sure the slide was bottoming out in the carb. Well, I thought that I had done that. Mental block or something. took the carb off with the cable attached and the slide was almost wide open. New cables that I had purchased years ago. Its to short. I ordered one from KDI so I should be squared away soon. I got the bike for $650 but I ended up having to replace everything that can be sun damaged as it set outside. The tank doesnt look that good in real life. The picture makes it look all shiny and new but its got some fading and a few small dents. Thanks to KDI, DEET, Partszilla, Revzilla Dennis Kirk among others. I got lots of bolts from a fellow out of California on ebay. Really made things easier.    Regarding Oregon and Hodaka, me and the family go up to Athena, Oregon every year to attend Hodaka Days. I love riding in the parade! Pat

Your DT1E and your Hodakas look great. Had a couple of DT1s over the years but never a Hodaka. Your story about riding in the parade really sounds like a good time. For twenty+ years, I carpooled past the “local” dealer’s garage/shop never stopped for a visit. Those chrome tanks are an eye-catcher.

This group has an Other Bike’s forum with a Hodaka topic that may be of interest.
