Welcome. Not a criticism but an observation [might be my browser] but are they longer rear shocks than original. Just looks a bit like the guard will be up higher than usual when fitted. Or the tail loop is bent up which puts more curl up in the seat than factory. Might just be the angle i'm looking at it & a great job you're doing so keep it up. I'm ruing the day i dumped my LT2 at a junk yard then thought better of it but was gone when i returned thinking i might have to buy it back haha. Was a purple tank too. I assembled them & fixed them back in those days in our local Yamaha Shop. Miss those days.

When I originally posted I thought it was a Lt2. And some kind people here were able to identify it as an LT3 by its Vin.  The original paint was candy purple.

Yeah I actually thought that too but as far as I know the bike was all stock. It's got 2100 miles on it. And it was wrecked in the front but the rear was undamaged. Just look weird without the fender and I think the new seat cover and foam isn't as tall or thick as the original.

Nice job. I had a '72 LT2 as a teen and my buddy had the '73 LT3 like yours.
Fun days!

Sorry it took so long haven't been on in a while been working on stuff lol. Um I don't remember what brand the paint is or the clear. It's just a metallic paint I picked out of a book I borrowed from Singer Vehicle Designs. It's the same stuff they use on their Porsches. But not a color they use.
I am having a problem. Im trying to figure out the battery, rectifier, fuse connection. I have the diagram but it's doesn't show that portion well as it doesn't show the 2 red wires near the taillight turn signal connection. Nor does it show the actual connection of the wires at the battery and rectifier. If anyone has a picture of it that would be awesome!

Generaly the fuse goes between the two reds with female connectors under the seat where you're saying. The batter should do to a male red there somewhere & the battery earth screws to the frame close by. Recifier should be red & a white. I'm thinking back 50+ years so wait till someone updates me. But you'll soon know if i'm wrong by looking at what wiring you have. Rectifier is under the tank of course.

Ok thanks! That's how I have it. And the rectifier tests good, the battery is new but it's blowing bulbs. I've been running some 6v bulbs to test it, as I don't want to blow the original headlight bulb so I'm trying to figure it out with before I put that in of course. I'm not sure why the battery isn't protecting the bulbs. They get way bright and blow with just a small twist of the throttle.
