Hi From New owner of 76 DT400 ready for restoration #21
Mentioned a bunch of times if you do a search... briefly third wire is a ground on OEM yamaha. Third wire is for "pilot light" on most three wire flashers.. If you connect all three wires you'll have a direct short.

Can probably use the three wire if you don't connect the pilot light or you could rewire the flashers and run a wire from pilot to bulb in gauges and disconnect both wires to existing indicator in gauges.

Hi Jason, just take the springs from the shock absorbers to a chrome shop. They remove old chrome/Nickel/copper layers, polish and rechrome. If rust Mark's are not to deep, polish before chroming is ok. If too deep, sand blasting ( rounded corn) before rechrome, what's more like the stock spring's. I payed 15 Euro each spring (approx 20 Dollars) in Germany for de- and rechroming, and don't have to think about adhering or what it looks like anymore. Just the best solution and not expensive.

Hi Guys,
Thanks MarkT for all the help. Wessi tx.
If I follow the wiring diagram available on this site, and stay with regular lights (only 12V upgrade) everything should work?

Hi Guys/Mark,
Thanks for the feedback, 2pin flasher relay worked very easily. All wiring for turn signals are complete. Conversion to 12V bulb is complete. Next is hooking up the instrument lights. I got the 12v Bulbs, and will follow the wiring diagram to see if they work. if there is anything i should deviate from the wiring diagram please let me know?
Tx
Jason

Hi Guys,
Thanks to everyones great help here, I have completed the cosmetic restoration on the DT400. It started right up with just a two kicks (with Choke), and idle is very stable. However upon taking it for short spin down the cul de sac and the engine doesn't respond to throttle above 1/4 throttle. I only tried first gear.
Love to hear back as to where to start. Planning to take out the carb.
Previous owner told me compression is about 115PSI and engine sound is very good. its been upgraded to 12V Ignition system.
Thank so much for great support here.
Jason
