I have plans to build my newly acquired 1968 DT1 into a Flat Track / TT / Steeple Chase bike. I am currently waiting until next spring to completely do the entire engine. My dilemma started as I don’t want a $10K Enduro.
It will have a front brake. It will have aluminum AKRONT style wheels 18” F / R and SHINKO or KENDA Trail Sport Tires. A stock Tank. Shifter on the Left. GYT or Webco head. I just purchased a down pipe. It is very short and extremely light weight. I may borrow my compression release off of another bike or acquire another? I will be looking for a 30 mm 214 GYT Carburetor. The other idea is triple clamps from a later model ( 71’ ) utilizing aluminum lower fork legs. Absolutely, will be oil injection. The engine cases will be painted. All the aluminum slightly polished. No modifications will be made to interfere with the bike someday be corrected back to a Enduro.
I intend to build a tribute bike for Tom White, of White Bros. Possibly utilizing his CMC Number.
Any help from the Yama-Community is absolutely appreciated. Maybe a $5K budget?

I was not aware yesterday when I was making this post that it’s been exactly 5 years to the day since we lost Tom White. He started White Bros. from scratch out of two storage units into a $40 million a year company which is about $3.3 million a month. His AMA number was 80. I think that I’m extremely fortunate to be able to do a tribute bike to this great person whom we lost cancer.” He died on November 2, 2017 which was just 1 month before I moved into this apartment.
