It sounds like you might be on to something.  I've never had a clutch do that but I've never found badly warped steels either.

Did you say you could shift down into first while riding the bike and while it's rolling?  I don't remember hearing you say that but from what you're saying it feels like it sounds like maybe Swoop had it figured out in his first post.

Morls, I KNOW that you'll get it running - I just don't know how big a hammer it'll take!

That looks like a great project!   It will be great to see another old bike brought back to life!  Enjoy.

I replaced the shift shaft on my DT-1. The shaft looked like it had been bent in a wreck. The shift arm hit the screw that centers the spring hard enough to bend it ( you were pointing at the screw in the video )that's the eccentric screw. That plus the fix shown in Mark's service bulletin might get it to shift. There wasn't much room for error on the DT-1 .Good Luck,JC

And the ‘golden sprocket’ award goes to…. @swoop56

5 steel clutch plates later and I have a functional 1st gear, I need to readjust my clutch rod, but the clutch worked and it went right into 1st slick as snot!

To celebrate, I decided to plate it for the street as well as trails here in Maine as an “antique” motorcycle. I’ll trailer it to the trails but where there’s no connectors, I’ll just take it on the road to get between trail heads!  Thank all of you for helping me figure this out!
