Due to the extraordinary growth of the membership and resources, we are once again bumping up against hosting limits. I am working on a fix. In the meantime, the forum should function, but you won’t be able to attach images. Working as fast s we can to fix. Thanks for your patience. - Makotosun

Air filter form on a 78 dt250 was created by Mark Serotta

My bike came with a varmint condo in the airbox complete with whole leaves, dirt, and whatever the pics show. Looks like my air cleaner form is only partially there. Gonna try to rebuild some of the form. Probably can't glue it, I think the oils from the filter might attack the glue. Thought about trying to use thin metal wire to secure plastic strips....got another idea?

Foam just crumbles with age but doubt the hungry little critters ate it. Is a mess for sure.

Your question is about rebuilding the cage and not the foam filter itself, yes?

Thin metal straps, chicken wire etc should be good. What condition is the remaining part of the cage in (ie is it brittle and likely to disintegrate if any pressure is applied)?

You could maybe make a new one out of wire, using the remains of your plastic one as a template.

It's always worth checking fleabay for a used one - I've seen them included in job lot listings.

If you know someone with a 3D printer they can make you a new one.

The new UNI Filter pictured is complete with cage. Cage is within the sponge I have no luck linking ebay stuff so go to listing below which is what you show in your post. Then study all the pics & you can see it must be drawn through the cage within then folded over the outside 'I think'--& have i ever been wrong--don't answer that lol.
eBay item number: 143229857611
Edit-correcting things as words i bracketed didn't show, weird, but sometimes happens.
