Hello - hoping than an edurologist can help me ID replacement shoes based on the markings below. I ordered two pairs and neither fit. And this bike has a few surprises so I am wondering if something got switched around…I don’t think so but then again is it likely two ebay sellers got it wrong?

really appreciate the help

Thanks Rt325
i started with parzilla and ended up getting incorrect shoes twice and was hoping to turn markings on shoe photos into part numbers.

I think the front shoes might be oddballs for 77 and 78, but seller had a wider range of years. I think the back set is same as rear in my dt360a and dt1e so I think I will buy these from partzilla. Front not available from partzilla which takes me back to eBay and all this Chinese no name stuff.

Maybe have a go at starting your search on the CMSNL website.

The set in your first photo actually have a part number stamped on them (183-........) and on the other side is stamped 437, so I guess they fit a 1974 DT100 + loads of others.

The second set, as you've already sussed, is the set currently used on the DT3 etc etc.

I recall reading somewhere that the DT250/400 switched to a conical front hub, possibly within a production year, so this is probably the source of a lot of the confusion out there (that, and Yamaha's myriad of part number supersessions!).

Try checking with an actual Yamaha dealer.  They have a crossover chart of some kind that identifies brake shoes and is not available on the on-line parts lists.  Front and rear Partzilla part number on the 79 DT175 are the 437-W2536 -00 and NLA

So I had the same problem with my 79 DT175 and the local dealer looked it up in a paper book they had under the counter. If the 437 shoes are what you need the current Yamaha part number should be in the pic below...  130mm OD.

Hi Mark - mystery continues.
my front shoes measure 130mm across the diameter installed so I am thinking that 3kg-w253e-00 might be the ticket. Do you know what the width of these shoes are?  Thank you

Did you check out CMSNL?

They show part number 431-W2536-00, superseding to 4GR-W2536-00, although this may well not be the complete supersession history.

They also show Ferodo part number FSB767 as an alternative.
