Tires for a DT175 was created by pcdarks

I want to put a dual sport tire on my 1981 DT175. The Shinko 244 looks good for street and dirt. I would like to put a 4.10x18 on the rear and a 3.0x21 on the front will they fit? anybody done this? thanks

I'd guess the front will be fine but the rear might be a little too big. Personally I found the Shinko 244 to be little better than the stock trial tire pattern in the dirt.

You can find some pictures of various tires here: www.yamaha-enduros.com/index.php/forums/...er-tire-thread#94702

I was able to squeeze the Tusk DSport tires on my XT225, front was no problem but back clearance was tight for the 120/90x18. Might fit the DT175 but can't say for sure. Certainly a better tire in the dirt than the Shinko 244 and similar price. DOT legal too.

I hated the Shinko 244's on my 1979 DT175. Fine on the street. Did not work well off road which is where I ride the most. I don't remember what sizes I had.

Front end washed out a lot with the 244's.

Switched to street legal knobbies and won't ever go back. (MT21 front and Kenda Trakmaster rear) I also have a 250 Honda with knobby Dunlop D606's... they work good too... I think the smallest Dunlop D606 rear is too big for the monoshock DT175 though.

244's might work okay depending on the type of riding you do.

What do you all think of the Shinko 700s?

I put Shinko 244s on my 175 and I like them. I put a 3.00 on the front and a 3.50 on the rear. Looking at the clearance there is over a half inch of room left on each side so I think a 4.10 would work.

Hi - did you use the 100/100-18 Trackmaster? If so, there were no clearance issues?
Thanks.

I don't have energy to dig out bike and take pics but did look up receipt. Plenty of clearance with tire below.  Best rear tire I've ever used on DT175's.

Very nice! Went for the Kenda 270 too. In the end thought the trail master/wing was too off road oriented for my use.
