kick start is stiff was created by sam

my dad gave me a 1975 Yamaha dt175 it took a little bit of work to get it started and then i put it away for about a year, i rolled it out and started it (i didn't have to do anything), when i was coming home from the track it was starting to get sluggish i didn't think much if it and thought it was a bad air filter and i parked it for that night the next morning the kick start was stiff i pulled of the head and didn't see anything wrong and i cleaned up the rings but it's still stiff (i tried purging the engine with oil) please help

You mentioned the head was off and cleaned the rings, to get to the rings the cylinder will have to come off, was that done?
Thanks Mark
